Hound / Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Medium
Oliver has been somewhat overlooked in rescue. He is a very sweet dog, mild mannered, quiet, good with other dogs. He is a little bit of a meek, sensitive soul and will really be a sweet companion for someone and/or their other dog. (Oliver would be a good friend to another dog). He is waiting patiently to be discovered by his forever-family. He is s weet, smart, emotional, and full of life! From the start , he got along well with his older foster brother, following his guidance but also teaching him that cuddling together is nice. He is learning to trust people, and is friendly meeting new people.
With little effort Oliver has mastered commands like sit, lie down, heel, waiting to eat, sitting at the door before a walk, and no-pulling (on the leash). He gets distressed in the car, I wonder if the rescue-ride from Kentucky was not a little traumatic , and this is an area where we continue to practice . When excited or nervous h e whines, and quivers (!).
He does well with others at the dog park, but more often than not his houn d nose leads him off on his own rather than play ing . Oliver's best life would be where he could be outside often for long walks or dog parks, so he can explore all the good smells and activities of other critters.

We really want an active home for Oliver, someone who is a runner or likes to get to the dog parks, ideally a home with a fenced in yard (the higher the better).
Oliver has lived with a mellow cat and was Ok, but at other times will act too interested in a cat and maybe want to chase. We are not sure he would harm a cat or not, but if the cat is a runner, he would probably give chase, or can get excited by it. (In a random way).
He can be a sneak, so all food is put away when leaving for the day, Oliver needs a little time to learn to trust, but if you want an affectionate, smart, and endearing dog, you might be Oliver’s people! Please contact us if you want to learn more, or have questions:
