Elfie is a very pretty young, what we believe to be an Elk Hound mix male. He may be part Shepherd, part herding breed, we aren't sure, this is all speculation. But Elfie is young, and very active and has what seem like some herding instincts. Elfie is sweet and affectionate and a great dog but he will need a household that can help him live out his activity drives, plenty of activity, motion, walks, dog park, etc. It would be ideal for him to romp around with another dog if possible or eventually. He does need a fenced in yard, he needs to move around and explore freely. Elfie is approx 36 lbs, and around 8 -9 months old. On Elk Hounds: Elkhounds are famously fine companions and intelligent watchdogs. Agility and herding trials are good outlets for their natural athleticism and eagerness. Reserved until introductions are made, an Elkhound is a trustworthy friend ever after. These strong, confident dogs are truly sensitive souls, with a dash of houndy independence.
