Meet Schmidt! This handsome big boy is 4-5 years old and is looking for a new home, to no fault of his own - darn allergies! At a healthy 16 lbs, Schmidt is a Garfield-like cat and would eat all day if you let him - don't leave food out or he'll just help himself! Schmidt originally came from a farm as an abandoned kitten and has been living as an only cat since then. However, he does see a lot of dogs, and currently lives with 2 small ones. At times, he will cuddle with them or plays with them, and when they get yippy, he just hides. Schmidt observes medium size dogs from across the room up high and watches them. Schmidt has never been aggressive with kids and has a lot of patience with them - especially little ones learning to be gentle! Like the smart boy that he is, he just hides when the little humans get too rambunctious. Because of his farm-life background, Schmidt has been accustomed to going outside on occasion (though not daily), even in winter. He always comes back about 4-5 hours later. He will meow at the door when he wants to go out, and knock on the door when he wants back in. He’s a good mouser, keeps all of the local wild turkeys out of the yard, and even chased out a family of possums under the porch once! This handsome boy is mostly mild mannered now that he’s older, though he does have a witching hour where he races around the house, acts a little nutty, and plays with toys. He is completely litterbox trained and does not spray. He really likes fuzzy, plush throw blankets and that's what will entice him to cuddle. He does cuddle with the men/boys in his house though... he will promptly sit on their lap without being put there! He seems less likely to get cuddly with women... unless you've got that cuddly blanket! Schmidt happily sleeps at the end of the bed every night. Interested in adopting?
