Max is a super sweet mixed breed pup. He has many breeds in him! Australian Cattle Dog, Tree Walker  Coonhound, German Shep, Pit, Chow Chow, Boxer, Collie  and Super Mutt! (We have his DNA test)

Max is "One of a kind!" Max is very good in the house, he crates like a dream (if need to be crated, but is house trained). He will listen to directions (easier in the house at this point as he is only about 11 mos old and more adventurous when outside) He looks to you for directions at times or just likes to hang out, relax and sleep near you or your feet while you work. He is quiet in the house, doesn't bark, does not protest or whine, knows to go to the door when need to go out. He learns very quickly.

Max LOVES other dogs- he has a puppy mentality toward other dogs, "Life is a party right!? Let's play!" He will take cues from older dogs or more dominant dogs, but he does initially try or want to play with almost any dog he meets and his play can be "robust" he throws himself "all in" and wants to play bow, roughhouse, chase, be chased, he jumps around the yard or dog park like a rabbit at times and when equally matched with a young dog his size and also game to play it is super fun to watch!

With a dog that is not interested in playing or not a good match in terms of size or strength, Max might need to be "managed" directed away from them, and you need to really get his attention or take control of him- (leash, collar) as he doesn't always get that immediately.

(We do offer "trials" also to make sure he is a good fit with your existing dog, etc. )

He sometimes will be exuberant with his humans too- like barking at them or jumping up a bit - or grabbing his leash when walking- like he wants to engage them to play with him. So he needs a good "Leader" type of person who knows how to redirect, command or manage this exuberance.

He also just recently got neutered, some over time as his testosterone leaves his body (and just getting more mature- less puppy like) and with good leadership and management, this should subside.

When Max is listening to you, he really listens and can be directed very well and easily. It's just when he is wound up and excitable and trying to engage another dog or human to play that he needs to be "managed" a bit more.
He might be a dog that could be good off leash, he loves to run around and chase squirrels and run in broad circles sometimes but always seem to reference back to you.

Max is the devoted type and is a very cool dog. His ideal home would have a fenced in yard (or acreage- where the owner would train him) and another dog similar to his size- weight to play with. (Another dog that loves to play). He is good with both male and female dogs and can be with a dominant male dog. He is respectful of cats. Max also loves to find and chase squirrels! He definitely will keep the squirrels out of your yard!

Max would be sweet with kids, but because he can be awkward and exuberant we would recommend either adult home only or older kids (like teenage or older).
