Marley is a very sweet boy, who is coming to our rescue. Marley was found in injured in a ditch on side of the road in rural Kentucky. He had been injured by another dog or animal and had bite wounds on his chest and legs. A kind advocate who worked at a vet clinic took him under her care and his wounds healed and his legs were evaluated. Marley's bite wounds healed but they discovered his two front legs (but especially the right one) seemed to have a slight deformity- that is speculated to be a condition called Carpal Valgus: Carpal valgus in dogs is an outward turning of the paw from the level of the wrist and is a frequently encountered example of an angular limb deformity. In all cases, angular limb deformities result from atypical bone growth due to rapid growth or damage or injury to a dog's bony growth plate. We were told that he is not in pain now being so young and is "doing well" albeit a gimpy walk especially on his right leg. He can have a good quality of life- in the future if he developed arthritis over time or something like that he may need supplements for that, but other than that can have a pretty normal life- albeit won't be able to do quite as much or go as far without resting as other dogs.
