Domestic Long Hair / Calico / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
Hi I'm Margo, a petite calico lady, who was once a stray from South Dakota. I've come a long way since I've been with my foster family! Before I wouldn't even come out from under the bed to say hi, now I feel brave enough to tell you about myself!
I'm Margo or Mango as foster dad calls me. I'm staying with these nice humans. The long haired one brings me food and cleans up my messes, and picks up after my nightly parties (but I don't invite her to my parties). She also gives me treats and I even eat them out of her hand! She tries to touch me and gets really happy when she does, it's weird. I scooch the other way really fast but come back for the treats. The short haired human plays wand toy. For a funny looking cat, he's pretty good at it. I'm a great huntress. I love my wand toys and my mouses the most. I love burying my mouses in the litter box to make sure they're dead. That makes foster mom come in and clean up. She hasn't figured out my tricks yet.
I am really good at nudges and make cooing sounds when the humans are around. My safe space is my room. My room has all my things, a jungle gym and a window seat I love to sit in. There's so many birds and squirrels to watch. When foster humans walk by or say my name, I run to the baby gate to say hi. I feel really safe in my room and have started exploring other parts of the house, but only a little.
I also live with foster siblings. There's this really big cat that yells a lot. He's whatever. He seems to get upset with a lot of things that go on outside. There's a cat that looks like me. I don't mind her, she just tries to eat all my treats. There's a old man cat and he keeps to himself unless there's treats; he's cool. Now the angry one. One of my foster sisters keeps charging me and hissing. She's not very nice. Foster humans keep saying something about "territorial." I just try to stay away from her and as long as my gates up I'm fine.
I'm being a brave girl and trying new things every day. It will take me time to get used to being pet and loved. I love my friskies party mix treats and hate canned food. I need my safe space to retreat to if I get scared. A smaller home, condo or apartment may be best. I would likely be fine with cat friendly dogs and be fine as a second or solo cat as long as the buddy doesn't have an alpha personality.
Because it's taking me longer to feel safe indoors, I will experience a setback in a new home. Routine is helpful to me so I know I can trust you. I am also a night owl. I am happy to entertain myself, but if you play with me I learn that good things come from you too.
*Margo is a sweetheart who is turning into a beautiful cat as her personality emerges. She will take time and patience, but it will pay off. She needs a little nudge here or there, but things need to generally be on her terms.*
