Fernando is a sweet little guy at 21 lbs. He is about 7 years old, and a very adaptable guy! We think he is a JRT/Beagle mix (or something like that!) He does have some Terrier qualities.
Fernando had blended wonderfully into his foster home with our two smaller dogs. He has shown great potential as a family or companion dog. This fella is very gentle, loving, intelligent, and social.
He may do best in a home with another dog? He can be reactive on walks, barking and carrying on when he sees other dogs (or prey like squirrels). He seems like he has that Terrier tenacious quality at times, reactive to strange dogs or squirrels on a walk, but it could be fear- based and ease up over time (or not!) so you have to be prepared for that. He does fine with the other dogs that were in his original foster home.

Fernando has been learning how to walk with manners but can be vocal when unsure about a new situation. He thrives with consistency and praise, which helps him master his manners on walks and in the community. He is learning commands (no, sit, stay, come) and with gentle reminders and consistency he will become a expert at this. His kind demeanor is eager to please and feel connected to those who will show him affection.
At bedtime or home alone he is finding comfort in his kennel. At bath time he has shown calmness and trust. Meal time he has shown no food aggression and is motivated by treats.
The perfect match would be someone who enjoys regular nature walks and time relaxing at home together as a family. Having a dog friend in the home or being the only animal would be ideal.
