Meet Chief, a 4-5yo 53lb hound mix who smiles with his tail curly-fry tail! Chief came to us October '24 from a Florida shelter in desperate need of a second chance. Unfortunately, Chief tested positive for life-threatening heartworm disease when he arrived, but he's nearly done with his treatment now (he's on his last stretch of crate rest from now until the end of March) and is ready to find his forever home! Chief is good with other dogs and is responsibly independent at amusing himself with chew toys. Chief is a fun loving boy and very playful but slightly more mellow than some hounds. He is super sweet and has a delightful personality, that will definitely come out more once he's back to 100% activity! When Chief is able to exercise again, his vet said he should probably lose a few pounds, so if you're looking for a friend to walk around the lake - Chief is ready when you are! He isn't the biggest fan of car rides, but what's a road trip without a cozy blankie. This fancy boy loves to say hi to other dogs when he can, and is really looking forward to being able to play with new friends! Chief would likely be a great family dog or a lucky someone's first dog! Interested in adopting? Please complete an interest form on our website here.
